Upon hearing the news of the Emancipation Proclamation, African Americans celebrated by singing songs of worship, dancing, and eating good food. In commemoration, MHC invites you to Jubilee where you will enjoy Spirituals and music from Vocal Essence under the direction of G. Phillip Shoultz, hear stories about the wonderful intersection of food and music, and be treated to delicious dishes and treats from prominent local Black chefs:

The 2026 “Gathered at Alora” season kicks off in June. A series of seasonal,  outdoor dinners in collaboration with award winning Chefs, Erin and Matéo Mackbee to come! 

Join us, Saturday, July 25th from 7:00-9:00 for a culinary collaboration with Krewe and Flour & Flower!

Enjoy a unique take on dessert; a "dessert flight" of custom crafted delicacies by Chef Erin.  Set in a charming apple orchard and flower farm.   Come early and wander the flower farm, taking photos and cutting a few stems to bring home.  (Cut flowers not included in ticket price).

A 6:00 PM cocktail reception with a signature drink and views of the Mississippi River and Minneapolis skyline from the Weisman Art Museum. A five-course, family-style dinner by chefs Mateo Mackbee and Erin Mackbee—seasonal, hyper-local, and rooted in Minnesota.
